Half Moon Bay in the Fall and Winter time are Beautiful. Recommend going during November/December after crab season starts, and get a couple fresh crabs at the harbor.
Mama Chen- Stinky Tofu
Love it or Hate it- it’s a classic Taiwanese dish. Fermented Stinky tofu deep fried, with some pickled vegetables. The restaurant here has a good fermented flavor, one of the best I’ve had outside of Taiwan. Only downside is the price
Tasty Pot – Beef Hot Soup (Taiwanese Hot Pot)
$13.99 for the beef hot pot, comes with vermicelli or a bowl of rice. Flavor is not bad, a little pricey for what you get.
Koi Palace – Xiao Long Bao
Koi Palace has some amazing food, one of the best Chinese restaurants in Northern California. Their Dim sum is really good as well, they actually make alot of their food vs buying frozen and just steaming. 5 Guys Xiao Long Bao: The left one is regular XLB with pork The green is with a Spinach…
May Flower- Tea Smoked Duck
Duck was amazing- other dishes not so much. Beautifully smoked, still juicy, and a nice duck with a lot of meat and not a lot of fat. A must order
Homemade- Smoked Soy Garlic Wings
Marinated in some Soysauce, fish sauce, lemon, garlic and Sriracha, then smoked on a Weber Kettle until perfect I’m conceited i’ll give myself 5 stars
Golden Palace – Scallops, Steak, & Green Peas
Steak pieces were tender, Scallops had a nice sear to them. A little bit oily overall
Golden Garlic- 水煮鱼 Sichuan Boiled Fish
Have had better versions of this at a cheaper price. Their rendition is pretty average, not bad, not awesome.
Homemade – BBQ pork ribs & Chuck Roast
I’m pretty good at bbq. Low and slow to get that perfect smoked pink color. This is with a standard Weber Kettle, no upgrades or mods. Looking to get a better grill in the future
Dan Gordon’s – Calamari
Not exactly what I was expecting when ordering calamari. Definitely lacked in flavor and seasoning. The ingredients just don’t work together. Would not order again
